11th September 2014
Today the live trading room made 9% profit.
Let me quantify the number:
We trade a model portfolio with £5,000.
Each trade we place has a risk of £100.
At 7am Larry Pesavento joined the room and announced that he wanted to sell DAX at 9755 – IF it got there. It never did. His reasoning was simple: it was a 78.6% retracement. At 9755 you also have an AB = CD pattern completing. Combined it is called a GARTLEY pattern. His stop would have been 30 points.
At 09:06 Tom placed his first trade. He wanted to have sold earlier, and he felt strongly about shorting the DAX. However, he could not get the ideal price so he sold a lower price, but in half size. His stop was 10 points.
At 09:23 Tom closed the short for minus 4 points. He annoyingly looks at the market fall 45 points.
At 10:32 Tom shorts the DAX at 9705. It is an old low and there is a 78.6% retracement.
At 10:39 he closes half for plus 5.
At 10:46 he closes the other half at breakeven.
At 10:46 Tom reverses long at 9705 with a 10 point stop.
At 10:48 Tom adds to the long position at 9710
At 10:49 Tom closes the first position at 9720 for plus 15, and at 10:54 he closes the other “add on” position at 9716.
Tom left the room with plus 3.2%.
Then Roy joined later to start trading the Dow.
At 15:19 Roy shorted Dow at 17032 with a 10 point stop loss.
At 15:54 his trailing stop was triggered and he closed for plus 32. This was £291 in the pot or 5.8%.
Lawrence initiated a long position in EURCHF yesterday. Stop was moved to breakeven. This trade was closed for plus 46 points.
